WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19?

The symptoms of COVID-19 include:

Fever (>100.4*F)
Sore throat
Chills
New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing
Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
New onset of severe headache
New loss of taste or smell
Symptoms can appear between 2–14 days after exposure.

Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. Please contact your healthcare provider to address your own medical needs.

WHO SHOULD BE TESTED FOR

COVID-19 INFECTION?

Not everyone needs to be tested for COVID-19. Those who should get tested include people who:

Have symptoms of COVID-19.
Have had close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact means someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person over a 24-hour period for a combined total of 15 minutes or more.
Have taken part in activities that put them at higher risk for COVID-19 because they cannot socially distance as needed, such as travel, attending large social or mass gatherings, or being in crowded indoor settings.
Have been asked or referred to get tested by their healthcare provider or the State Department of Health.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU FEEL SICK?

If you are sick with COVID-19 or think you might have COVID-19, follow the steps below to care for yourself and to help protect other people in your home and community.

Stay home except to get urgent medical care
Separate yourself from other people
Monitor your symptoms
Call ahead before visiting your doctor
Get tested
Wear a mask over your nose and mouth
Cover your coughs and sneezes
Clean your hands often
Avoid sharing personal household items
Clean all “high-touch” surfaces every day

WHEN SHOULD YOU SEEK

EMERGENCY CARE?

Look for emergency warning signs* for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:

Trouble breathing
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion
Inability to wake or stay awake
Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone

*This list is not all possible symptoms. Please call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you.

Call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility. Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who has or may have COVID-19.
