The County's Maui Nui Strong and Maui Recovers teams share the latest resources and wildfire recovery information:


HOUSING ASSISTANCE:

FEMA Continued Temporary Housing Assistance – deadline to apply Nov. 9, 11:59 pm HST

You may be able to receive FEMA rental assistance for three-month periods – up to a maximum of 18 months from the president’s major disaster declaration, which in this case is Feb. 10, 2024. Contact FEMA regularly and let the specialists know you still need rental assistance for your temporary housing.

BUSINESS SUPPORT:

Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center's FREE center Cart for 3 mos + $2,000 cash stipend

Queen Ka‘ahumanu is offering free rent for three months on a center Cart plus a $2,000 cash stipend to help wildfire impacted businesses. Space and funding are limited while supplies last.

The County of Maui is urging Maui County-based businesses to sign up for a FREE listing on MauiNuiFirst.com. This revamped website offers local businesses an expanded online platform to showcase your products, services and activities.

Alzheimer’s Association caregiver respite financial assistance program

Covers caregiving services of up to $2,500 per family in and outside of the home or a temporary residence, adult day care, or placement at an assisted living facility.

COUNTY NOTIFICATIONS:

County of Maui seeking contact with owners of electric vehicles in burned areas during Aug. 8 fires - deadline by Nov. 6

The County of Maui is asking owners of electric vehicles that were within burned areas during the Aug. 8 fires to contact the Abandoned Vehicles and Metals Office by Nov. 6, if you donʻt want your electric vehicle batteries removed by specialized EPA electric vehicle battery teams.

Refrigerator and freezer collection service for Lahaina residents residing in fire-impacted areas

The event will help impacted homeowners by safely recycling and disposing of their compromised refrigerators and freezers. Pick-up Nov. 2-3 or drop-off Nov. 4.

New Environmental Protection on Maui Recovers website – Air quality,  soil & ash

Agencies and organizations at the Federal, State and Local levels are all taking steps to mitigate environmental impacts from dust, ash, debris, and other effects of the wildfires.

Next phase of West Maui re-opening on Nov. 1

Mayor Bissen announced that the phased re-opening of West Maui to visitors has commenced Nov. 1 with the re-opening of the remaining area from Kahana to Kaʻanapali.

Upcountry Maui Disaster Recovery Center is now closed.

Upcountry Maui Disaster Recovery Center at Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Makawao effective Oct. 31. For a list of other Recovery Centers, click here

Get Right-of-Entry Assistance

Right-of-Entry Collection Centers are available for in-person submission of ROEs. At these centers, staff is available to assist owners by answering questions, suggesting resources and starting the application process.  Army Corps staff with special knowledge of the debris removal process will also be available to answer questions. Centers are located at:
