Looking for volunteers?

AT THE REQUEST OF VOAD AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT, PLEASE DO NOT SELF DEPLOY.

Aloha! We are All Hands and Hearts, a global response 501(c)(3). The Hawaii state VOAD requested our support coordinating all volunteers in response to the Hawaii Wildfires.

Please fill out this form if you are on island and an organization ready to receive volunteer support.

We will then schedule a 15-minute phone call with you to understand your operations in more detail to better match volunteers to your needs. From there we will connect spontaneous volunteers to your organization for support. Please note, All Hands and Hearts is acting as a connector in this process.  We are not screening individuals nor are we responsible for the activities of organizations or volunteers.  Any volunteers we send are not All Hands and Hearts volunteers.

Due to the overwhelming amount of incoming information, there may be delays in the actual receipt of volunteers. Thank you for your patience!

Feel free to email hawaiivolunteers@allhandsandhearts.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer at the new donation management Maui Relief Storage Facility in Kakaʻako, Oahu

In coordination with Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) has opened the Maui Relief Storage Facility, a coordinated donation management center to receive, sort and inventory donations collected for Maui residents impacted by the wildfires and store them until they are ready to be transported and received on Maui as feasible and appropriate.

Located in Hakuone at Kaka‘ako Makai, the Maui Relief Storage Facility is currently set-up to receive donations from coordinated relief efforts/drives across O‘ahu. Businesses, community organizations, churches, schools, etc. who are collecting and receiving large donations should call (808) 341-0622 to coordinate delivery. Once received at the facility, the donations will be sorted, inventoried, and stored until ready to be received on Maui and then transported as feasible and appropriate.

Unfortunately, the center is not able to accept drop-off donations at this time. Individuals wanting to donate much needed goods and supplies are encouraged to find a donation drive for Maui fire relief in their area.

Volunteer to help in Maui recovery efforts with Hawaii VOAD's volunteer management coordinator partner, All Hands and Hearts

Since August 15, All Hands and Hearts (AHaH) has supported volunteer coordination with the Hawaii Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (Hawaii VOAD), matching volunteers with established organizations on Maui. All Hands and Hearts first provided remote support, coordinating volunteers for local organizations – ensuring vital housing and resources were available for evacuees and internally displaced persons in the aftermath of the wildfires. Due to the dedicated efforts of their Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) and volunteer coordination team, All Hands and Hearts has become one of the lead resources for volunteer coordination and engagement on Maui. We are continually expanding our scope beyond Hawaii VOAD’s initial ask and showing that volunteer-powered disaster work can work alongside government entities. With a proven track record of successful volunteer coordination, we are building long-term relationships with council members across Maui County and have connected 304 volunteers with various collaboratives, hubs and partners around the island.

Our team has been working closely with the Napili Noho Community Hub, which supports over 100 families a day and aims to provide long-term support for the communities recovering from the wildfires over the next two years. Thus far, over 280 people have volunteered their time at this hub alone, helping sort and distribute supplies, running the markets and providing general support for the community.

In addition to the Napili Noho Community Hub, DART has connected with other Maui County hubs to review various scopes of work including reforestation, green waste removal and distribution, and is working to support the long term sustainability of these hubs. By facilitating and coordinating volunteers, AHAH is able to support these hubs that are essential to the local communities.

Please fill out this form if you're interested in being paired with an organization to volunteer, and are already in Hawaii.
This form will help us match you to an organization that best fits your skillset, interest and availability.

Common Ground Collective (CGC) Maui Fire Relief

Common Ground Collective (CGC) is connecting fresh produce with those that are positioned to feed our impacted community members. We are currently seeking volunteers with Food Handlers Permits, as well as general volunteer help.

If any local farms require assistance salvaging their produce, CGC is here to support.

We extend an invitation to anyone willing to join our efforts. Please don't hesitate to reach out.

Together, we can make a difference and pave the way for recovery.

Donate to Hawaii Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD)

Please help our communities recover from the devistation caused by the August 2023 Wildfires.

Click here to be taken to donate directly to the Hawaii VOAD. Cash is best.

Cash offers Hawaii VOAD the most flexibility in obtaining the most-needed resources. Organizations typically prefer cash donations because they allow our members to:

  • Purchase food, water, medicine, and equipment from secure and familiar supply chains
  • Buy materials locally. This can help rebuild the local economy
  • Conserve resources. Money is always necessary and cheap to send, but the cost to ship material supplies can be expensive.
  • Remember, material supplies such as used clothing, miscellaneous household items, and mixed or perishable food require helping agencies to redirect volunteer labor away from providing direct one-on-one assistance to sort, package, transport, warehouse, and distribute items that may not meet the needs of disaster survivors.
