The UH Maui Food Innovation Center (MFIC) is a hands-on training, product development, and mini-manufacturing hub that helps Maui County food entrepreneurs turn their food product ideas into safe, scalable, market-ready products.
Located at UH Maui College, MFIC blends culinary skill, food science, and business development to strengthen Maui County’s local food system and support economic resilience across the islands.
The three core MFIC courses guide entrepreneurs from concept to commercialization and include BUS 6822 Beginning Food Business, BUS 6821 Intermediate Food Business, and CULN 6020 MFIC Kitchen Lab.
Our courses run on a quarter system, every 3 months, a new session starts.
Q1: January, February, March
Q2: April, May, June
Q3: July, August, September
Q4: October, November, December
We are an education facility, and the courses are the main way to gain access to the MFIC commercial kitchen facilities.
